AIADMK General Secretary and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. K. Palaniswami met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence on Tuesday. This meeting has taken place at a time when there are discussions that their party can re -alliance with the BJP before the state assembly elections.

According to sources, Palaniswami discussed several issues including allegedly imposing Hindi in Shah Tamil Nadu and clarified his party’s stand on him.
AIADMK is the main opposition party of Tamil Nadu, it broke the alliance with the BJP in September 2023 ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The party then cited some differences with the BJP’s state leadership. The development came to light when senior AIADMK leaders met BJP chief JP Nadda here and told him about the situation arising out of Tamil Nadu BJP chief K. Annamalai’s aggressive political stance. Leaders of AIADMK, Dravidian leader C.N. Annamalai had demanded an apology or to be removed from the post for comment on Annadurai. Annamalai has now softened its stand towards AIADMK.

It is believed that if the AIADMK and the BJP again strengthen the alliance, they will challenge the ruling DMK alliance ‘India’ in the state. AIADMK’s vote share has seen a decline in the last few years.
