A mysterious bottle hidden inside the wall of one of the oldest light houses in Australia in Tasmania found a 122 -year -old historical message. This has increased the interest of historians.
According to The Independent report, this rare item has been discovered during regular conservation work in the lantern room of the Lighthouse, included in the heritage list located on the Buni Island by an expert Bryn Snoword, an expert at Cape Bruni Lighthouse in Tasmania earlier this week.

Tasmania Park and Wildlife Service (PWS) said that the painter saw some unusual things while working on the rusty part of the wall and after inspecting closely, it was found that it was a glass bottle with a letter.
The bottle was brought to Hobart, where the patrons of the Tasmanian Museum and Kala Gallery (TMAG) carefully opened it and removed the cork wrapped in a bitumen before removing the delicate material.
There was an envelope inside it. It had a handwritten letter of two pages written on 29 January 1903. It was written by the then Lighthouse Inspector James Robert Meech of Hobart Marine Board.

The letter details the important works done in the lighthouse. It was written about installing a new iron spiral ladder, new concrete floor and lantern room in place of wooden ladder.
In this, changes in the order of light shining were also recorded. There was also a list of names of the guardians and employees involved in this project. According to PWS, the Marine Board spent £ 2,200 on this task, which is equivalent to about $ 474,000 Australian dollars today.
For the historical heritage, PWS manager Anita Waghorn said that the situation of the message was remarkable. This letter gives us information about the works done in the lighthouse and the people doing this work. This information adds to the rich history of Bruni Island and Cape Bruni Lighthouse.
