A special character of the film was taken out at the behest of Yash Chopra

Aamir Khan recently revealed in the interview of The Bombay Journey of Mashbel India that the film should have had a very important character, which was removed at the last moment at the behest of the makers. The character was Abhishek Bachchan i.e. the wife of Jai Dixit of the film, which was played by Rimi Sen in the first two parts.

Aamir told that the talk of Jai Dixit and Sweety’s divorce was to be shown in the story. He told that it was to show in the story that Sweety says that Jai is so immersed in his duty that he is not able to give time to the family, due to which he asks for divorce from Jai. At the same time, Jai asks for the last chance from him. Then later both decide that they will go on honeymoon together, so that the relationship can be saved.

In the story, when Jai is going to leave for a honeymoon with his wife, then the call from the commissioner comes that there is a very important case, and Jai will have to come to Chicago immediately. Jai convinces Sweety to take along and resolve the matter there. In the film, Sweety and Jai’s relationship was to be shown moving forward.

Aamir Khan says that if this part was in the film, the film could have been even more powerful and emotional. This would also make the audience understand the difficulties and troubles of Jai Dixit. The film may have been successful at the box office, but today after 12 years, Aamir Khan believes that this film could have been even better, if the story included Jai Dixit and Sweety.
