Amidst these speculation, former Maharashtra Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan said that the Congress will only discuss the affairs of alliance with Uddhav Thackeray of Shiv Sena (UBT) and Sharad Pawar of NCP (SP) and will leave the decision on sub-alliance.

In an interview to PTI, Prithviraj Chavan termed the matter of coming with Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray as a family matter. If we go to the alliance (in local body elections), we will distribute seats with the leaders of coalition partners. Now, with whom they do sub-alliance, this is completely their position.

Prithviraj Chavan said, “If a person is completely against the values ​​of Congress, we will raise some objections; Otherwise, this is an internal family matter and how they adjust the seats if we go with the alliance (in local body elections). ”

When asked about Raj Thackeray, Chavan said, “Our experience is that he is a senior leader in Maharashtra politics. They pull the crowd; whenever they hold a public meeting, there is a huge crowd. But it does not convert to votes and that is why they have no attendance in the present Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.”
