In the national capital, 15 -year -old petrol and 10 year old diesel vehicles will not get fuel from Tuesday. If found in public places, such vehicles will be seized directly to the scrap yard and a fine of Rs 10,000 on four wheelers and Rs 5,000 on two -wheelers.

In order to keep air pollution under control, the Air Quality Management Commission (CAQM) has directed all Delhi petrol pumps not to provide petrol and diesel to vehicles that have completed their prescribed age. To implement this, the Transport Department has prepared a detailed plan by involving Delhi Police, Traffic Police and Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) personnel.
Under this, Delhi Police personnel will be posted at petrol pumps with 1 to 100 numbers, while the Transport Department will deploy 59 special teams at fuel stations with 101 to 159 numbers. A traffic police officer will be deployed at every 350 identified petrol pump, monitoring old vehicles. Two additional policemen will be deployed at each petrol pump to maintain law and order.
Cameras on petrol pumps
Automated number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras have been installed at more than 500 petrol pumps in Delhi. The ANPR camera will scan the number plate of the vehicle and check his age from the vehicle database. If the vehicle falls in the EOL (EOL) category, the pump employee will get an alert not to fuel. In case of violation, the vehicle will be confiscated and four wheelers will be fined Rs 10,000, two -wheelers will be fined Rs 5,000, they will be sent directly to the scrap yard. Also, toing and parking fee will also have to be paid. From Tuesday, the enforcement agencies will report this to the Air Quality Management Commission (CAQM) every day.
