HQ-29 Missile Defense System: China, an important neighboring country of India, is taking fast steps towards further strengthening its military power. Recently, pictures of a new ballistic missile defense system, HQ-29, have gone viral on Chinese social media.
It is believed that this state -of -the -art missile defense system can be introduced to the world for the first time in a military parade to be held in Beijing in September 2025. This system is being claimed that it will not only be able to stop high-end ballistic missiles, but it can also give a tough challenge to world famous defense systems like THAAD and Russia’s S-400.
HQ-29 missile defense system
HQ-29 missile defense system HQ-29 is considered to be a major jump in China’s military technology. The system is an advanced version of its predecessor HQ-9 and HQ-22 systems that are already part of the Chinese Army’s arsenal. Experts believe that HQ-29 is specially designed to target ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, drones and even satellites.
Its radar system and sensors are so advanced that it can immediately recognize and destroy them. Its launcher has seen two big missile canister which further enhances its firepower.
What is the danger for India?
This new missile defense system of China can be a matter of concern for India, especially when the border disputes between India and China are repeatedly in the news. The deployment of HQ-29 will further strengthen China’s air defense system, which can reduce the impact of supersonic cruise missiles like BrahMos in India. BrahMos, which India and Russia have developed together are known for their speed and accuracy. But if HQ-29 is actually equipped with the claimed level technology, then it can present a challenge for India’s missile strategy.
Regional and global impact
This move of China is important not only for India, but for the entire South Asia and global military balance. With the deployment of HQ-29, China can further strengthen its regional dominance. Especially, China can try to gain a strategic edge against India in collaboration with allies like Pakistan. Recently, there was news that Pakistan is planning to buy 40 J-35 fighter jets from China, which is another concern for India.
India’s counter -strategy India is also constantly strengthening its defense capabilities. Quick reaction developed by DRDO will enable India to deal with regional threats with the Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) and Hypersonic Glide Vehicle (HGV). Apart from this, India also has the S-400 defense system obtained from Russia which can destroy enemy missiles and drones in a 400 km range.
