Many times people do not remember the date of mobile recharge, insurance payment, credit card bill, electricity bill, loan payment. To solve this problem, NPCI launched the ‘UPI Auto-Pay’ feature in 2020. In this, along with the approval of the users, the money is automatically deducted from the account on the scheduled date. Due to this, payment is also made on time and there is no late payment.
How is Fraud being done?
- Now since the money in UPI auto-pay is automatically deducted, the cyber thugs are laying a trap of trapping people by sending ‘auto-pay request’. Cyber ​​criminals are getting the payment request accepted by luring users. Either SMS, email or fake links are being sent on social media, the money is deducted only by clicking on it.
- Scammers Bank or UPI Customer Care is also making people a victim of cheating by calling. They ask the user to enter the PIN to get auto-pay activated and every money is being cut from the account with the PIN.
- People are being implicated by pretending to be cheap subscription. Just by making payment, the settings of making money from the bank every month become automatically.
- Apart from this, auto-pay request is also being accepted by giving cashback, lure of auto pay. Therefore, after getting greed, avoid clicking in an unknown link. In case of fraud, click on the option of ‘Report Fraud’ or ‘Report Dispute’ in the UPI app itself and file your complaint. If you want, you can also submit a complaint in writing to the bank.
