The cyber cell of the State Police has so far marked around 100 disputed posts, which have been sent to the concerned social media platforms to remove.
The action began on 9 June after the murder of Influencer Kanchan Kumari alias Kamal Kaur ‘Bhabhi’. He was killed by a nihang and radical Amritpal Singh Mehr.
According to police sources, now the content being put on social media is also being seen from the perspective of internal security. The investigation has revealed many influencers whose posts are considered objectionable or inflammatory.
Reviews being marked by accounts
After collecting information, such accounts are being identified, which put inflammatory or objectionable posts. After this, action is taken after reviewing their content.
The posts which have been marked include videos and comments which are considered inflammatory. These have increased the risk of threats to other influencers.
8 thousand posts have been removed in two years
According to police data, in the last two years, cyber cells have removed about 8,000 objectionable posts from social media. These include posts in which young men appear with weapons. Only after receiving the complaint, the activity of an influencer is monitored, and the process of removing the material is initiated by contacting social media platforms.
If the platforms do not take action, then the legal process is adopted under Section 79 (3) (b) of the IT Act.

Increased activities became concern in a few months
Social media influencers are being targeted in the last few months and these incidents have increased. Only Kanchan Kumari alias Kamal Kaur ‘Bhabhi’ did not fall prey to it. There are many more social media influencers who were targeted. Kanchan Kumari was murdered, while other threats were limited.
Deepika Luthra deleted the account
In this sequence, Social Media Influencer Deepika Luthra of Amritsar complained of threats. Deepika said that Nihang Amritpal Singh Mehr called her a few months ago and threatened her. After which he also deleted the posts.
But after the murder of Kanchan Kumari, she has received threats again. In the end, he had to delete his account. However, the police have arrested two accused who threatened Deepika and the investigation and search of others is going on. Apart from this, Deepika has been given police protection.
Preet Jatti also received threats
Another influencer Simarjit Kaur alias ‘Preet Jatti’ has also been reported to have received threats from extremist elements. YouTuber Preet Jatti, who belongs to Tarn Taran district, claimed his life as a threat and said in the complaint to SSP Tarn Taran that he was receiving threats to kill him with foreign numbers.

Before all these incidents, Influenceer Roger Sandhu was targeted in Maksuda, Jalandhar. Grenade was thrown outside his house. It was taken responsibility by Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti. He had alleged that the attack was held in protest against the comments made by YouTuber against Islam.
