Simhastha Kumbh Mela will start with flag hoisting in Trimbakeshwar of Nashik on 31 October next year and will run till July 24, 2028. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday announced the dates of the fair after a meeting with Mahants of 13 major akhadas and priests of the priest union.

According to the schedule, after the introduction of Simhastha, there will be a city pradakshina in Nashik on 29 July 2027. The first Amrit bath will be held on August 2, 2027, while the second Amrit bath will take place on 31 August and the third and final bath will be held on 11 September in Nashik and on September 12 in Trimbakeshwar. The flag will be launched on 24 July 2028. With this, the Simhastha Kumbh Mela to be held once in 12 years will end.
Tender released for works costing 4000 crores
On this occasion, Fadnavis told reporters, the people involved in the meeting were given details of the work being done by the state government for organizing. He said, tenders have been issued for works costing Rs 4,000 crore. Tenders will be released soon for other works costing Rs 2,000 crore. Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), land acquisition for cleaning and Sadhugram is also in progress.

Suspense remains on the selection of mentor minister
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis did not clear who will be the patron minister of Nashik district hosting Simhastha Kumbh Mela in 2026-27. He indicated that the differences between the three colleagues of Mahayuti, who are competing for the post, are still unresolved. He said that Kumbh ministers Girish Mahajan (BJP) ministers are working closely with Dada Bhusa (Shiv Sena), Chhagan Bhujbal and Narhari Jirwal (both NCP). He said that administrative work has not been affected due to the absence of the patron minister. During the press conference, when he was asked questions about the selection of a possible District Conservator Minister, he said that the patron ministers keep coming. Do not do politics on this issue, Kumbh Mela is a religious and cultural festival.
