Under this, the CJI has been nominated as a permanent state guest. A release issued by the state government on Tuesday stated that CJI BR Gavai has now officially nominated as a permanent state guest in Maharashtra.

But it is believed that this step from the state has been taken after expressing displeasure over the protkall violation from CJE Gawai during his visit. After becoming a CJI, Justice Gawai came to Mumbai for the first time on Sunday, when none of the state’s Chief Secretary, Director General of Police or the Commissioner of Mumbai Police was present to receive him. State Cabinet Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule called CJI for this protective lapse and apologized. The Supreme Court said in a statement that all the concerned officials have expressed regret.

What is state guest rules
As per Maharashtra State Guest Rules, 2004, the dignitaries or dignitaries considered in the list of the declared state guests are provided with a reception and farewell at the airports on behalf of the State Protocol Sub-Divisions. The District Collector Office at the district level ensures similar arrangements through the protocol officials. According to this, the Chief Justice of India will continue to get all the protocol related facilities as per the State Guest Rules, 2004, including housing, vehicle system and security in the entire state during the journey.
