Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (Gondia) Mahendra Sorte removed the allegations leveled against the actor under sexual harassment and chase. The crew member had alleged that the actor had sexually assaulted him during the shooting of the film ‘Sheri’ about five years ago. According to a complaint lodged at Ramnagar police station in Gondia, the alleged crime was committed between the night of October 25, 2020 and the morning of October 29, 2020.

Arrested in 2020

Actor Vijay Raj was arrested on November 4, 2020 in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh. The film was living here. However, he was released on bail on the same day. Since then this case was going on in court.

Not found enough evidence

The court order said that the complainant said that the incident took place in a hotel, but the investigating officer did not go to the spot. The judge said that the complainant named the names of two-three people working in the hotel, but their statements were not even recorded. The court said, ‘The investigating officer did not conduct any further investigation. Therefore, the evidence offered by the prosecution seems weak and insufficient. Even in CCTV footage, the accused is not clearly shown by doing alleged acts.

The court said that the prosecution failed to prove the crime of the accused decisively, so the benefit of doubt goes to the accused. The court said that the oral evidence presented by the prosecution was not enough to convict the accused. Therefore, he is acquitted.
