The army achieved great success during a campaign in Manipur, Northeast India. Suspected armed cadres fired on soldiers in Chandel district of Manipur. 10 cadres were killed during retaliation. The Eastern Command of the Army wrote in an X post, ‘Special intelligence of armed cadres was found near New Tantal village in Khengji tehsil of Chandel district near India-Myanmar border.’
Operation of Assam Rifles under Spear Corps
Regarding this campaign in Chandel district of Manipur on the border of India and Myanmar, the Indian Army said that the unit of Assam Rifles under Spear Corps started an operation on 14 May 2025. During the operation, the soldiers opened fire by suspected cadres.

Retaliation on firing on soldiers, 10 cadres killed
The army said that the security forces immediately reacted and 10 cadres were killed in the firing during the retaliation. A large quantity of weapons and ammunition have also been recovered from the spot.
