Former Nepal Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai on Monday emphasized the old and strong relations between India and Nepal. He suggested that Prime Ministers of the two countries together should resolve pending issues through negotiations.

Bhattarai spoke to reporters in Delhi. During this, Bhattarai said that he met Defense Minister Rajnath Singh during his visit to India and had a brief discussion with him. He also talked about the revolution for the creation of politics in Nepal and the creation of constitutional democracy. Bhattarai said, “The political instability in Nepal is the result of an incomplete revolution and long -standing changes.”
Indo-Nepal relations underlined
Bhattarai underlined the historical relationship between the two neighbors on the Indo-Nepal relations. He said that interaction is the best way to resolve pending issues between the two countries. During this, he mentioned the Kalapani issues such as border disputes and other problems that have been going on for the last one century. He cited the ‘Sugauli Treaty’ of 1816 and the ‘Peace and Friendship Treaty’ of 1950, saying that these historical documents have many problems.

It is difficult for Nepal to prosper till good relations with India: Bhattarai
Bhattarai said that unless we have good relations with India, especially in financial cooperation. It is very difficult for Nepal to be rich in short time. He said that due to some misunderstandings we have not been able to solve the issues. They need to be discussed intense. Bhattarai said, “Now the time has come for both our Prime Ministers to meet each other and solve the problems left by history, and there should be close work relations between India and Nepal.”
India told emerging regional power
Bhattarai described India as an ’emerging regional power’. Also said that Nepal is lagging behind. He said that we need a good understanding among the top political leadership. Whatever problems left by history, they need to be solved through dialogue.

Bhattarai spoke on China-Nepal relations
Bhattarai was asked questions about China-Nepal relations. During this, he said in response that Nepal will never be used as a card against India. He said, ‘We are historical, political, cultural and socially closest neighbors. However, due to some misunderstandings adopted by both governments, our relationships have been stressful for some time. Therefore, I want these stressful relations to be resolved and the two countries can be rich together.
Nepal needs investment from India: Bhattarai
Bhattarai said that Nepal needs to invest from India. Especially in tourism, industrial, health and IT areas. He also spoke on Nepal’s future roadmap. Bhattarai said that Nepal is delayed in ending the monarchy and walking on the path of democracy.
