Aadhaar misuse check: In today’s time, Aadhaar card has become a very important document. Whether you want to travel, take admission in school/college or open a bank account, Aadhaar number is sought everywhere. This has made it easier to take advantage of government services and banking facilities.

But the more its use has increased, the more it has become a target of fraud and forgery. Many times someone else can use our Aadhaar without our knowledge. In such a situation, it is important that we keep checking from time to time that our Aadhaar is not being misused.

How to find out where your base is used?

UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has given an online facility called ‘Authentication History’, so that you can see when and where your Aadhaar was used.

Know here step-by-step method

1. First of all you have to go to the Myadhaar portal.
2. Fill your 12-numbers’ Aadhaar number and captcha code there. Then click on ‘Login with OTP’ and login from OTP on your registered mobile number.
3. After the login, click on the ‘Authentication History’ option and choose the date that you want to see.
4. The list of your Aadhaar is used there will come. If you see any suspect or unknown information, then report immediately.

If something goes wrong then where to complain?

If you feel something wrong in this process, then you can call UIDAI’s helpline number 1947 and file a complaint. Or can send email to help@uidai.gov.in.

On the other hand, if you want no one can take advantage of your fingers or eyes scan, then you can lock the biometric information of your Aadhaar.

Method of locking biometric

1. Go to UIDAI website and go to “Lock/Unlock Biometrics” section.
2. Add Virtual ID (VID), name, PIN code and captcha.
3. Verify with OTP and then lock the biometrics.

Some important advice

  • Keep checking the activity of your Aadhaar from time to time.
  • Keep updating Aadhaar details such as mobile numbers, address and biometrics- especially if you have not updated for the last 10 years, or have an accident that has changed the biometrics, or the child has completed the age of 15 years.
