Online scam
The government has issued a warning to the people regarding the online booking scam being held in the name of Kedarnath, Char Dham Yatra. The Cybercrime Coordination Center (i4C), the Ministry of Home Affairs, has issued guidelines regarding this. I4C, in its warning, warned the people that cyber criminals are targeting pilgrims traveling religious these days. They are targeting people by taking the support of fake websites, social media posts and paid advertisements and Google and Facebook etc.
Scam happening like this
In its advisory, I4C said that such scam professionals are being carried out by cyber criminals. Criminals are circulating fake websites and social media posts that look like Genuine, which have been given information about many services related to pilgrimage such as Kedarnath and Char Dham, helicopter booking, guest house and hotel booking. People contact cyber criminals after seeing these advertisements and fall prey to cheating.
Not only this, in its advisory, I4C said that apart from hotels and helicopters, cheating is being carried out with people in the name of online cab, taxi, holiday package, religious tour etc. Seeing these fake advertisements, many people try to book on fake websites of cyber criminals and lose their thicks. The i4C has also told people to avoid this.
What to do?
- Before paying on any website, verify the reliability of that website or apps.
- Apart from this, avoid clicking on any sponsored ie sponsored link on platforms like Google, Facebook.
- Do not pay attention to any information coming from an unknown number on WhatsApp
- If you see any such fake website, then immediately call the information on 1930 or report on the cybercrime portal.
