The new Excise Policy-2025 will be implemented in Madhya Pradesh from 1 April. Under this policy, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav government has decided to close liquor shops in 19 religious areas, according to which 47 shops in these areas will be closed from midnight of 31 March. The system of bars and alcohol sitting here will also stop. New licenses for alcohol and wine outlets will not be issued in these areas nor will they be allowed to operate. It has been decided not to sell alcohol in 19 holy areas of the state, including one municipal corporation, 6 municipalities, 6 city councils and 6 gram panchayats of the state. These include Ujjain Municipal Corporation, where there is a tradition of offering liquor in Baba’s darshan in Kaal Bhairav temple since ancient times. The shop in the temple complex will also be closed. Now devotees will have to offer liquor locker from outside.
