Iraq’s army killed ISIS Syrian chief Abu Khadija in a military operation. This was confirmed by Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani on Friday. The entire operation also supported the US -led coalition.

Prime Minister Sudani said in a social media post, “Abu Khadija was Iraq and one of the most dangerous terrorists in the world.”

The ISIS, once occupied a large part of Iraq and Syria, is now trying to get organized again. In 2014, Abu Bakr al-Bagdadi announced Khilafat in a large part of Iraq and Syria, but in 2019 he was killed in the US Army operation. After this, the collapse of the organization started.

The number of ISIS attacks doubling

According to the American Central Command (centcom), ISIS carried out 153 attacks in Iraq and Syria in the first half of 2024. This figure can be doubled compared to last year, making it clear that the terrorist organization is trying to strengthen again.

National security threat

However, since Baghdadi’s death, the leadership of ISIS has been constantly unstable, as his successors did not survive for a long time. Despite this, this organization remains a big threat through its branches and alliances in the Middle East, West and Asia.

Iraqi army action will continue

The Iraqi government has clarified that the campaign against the remaining ISIS terrorists will continue and national security will be given priority.
