The central government has banned two groups of Jammu and Kashmir involved in terrorist activities for five years. The Center has taken action on Awami Action Committee (AAC) and Jammu and Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen (JKIM). The head of AAC is Omar Farooq and JKIM head Masroor Abbas Ansari.

The Union Home Ministry said in a notification issued on Tuesday that members of the two organizations are promoting separatism in Jammu and Kashmir. For this, he has been involved in terrorist activities and anti -India campaign. The group is also involved in illegal activities which is dangerous for the integrity, sovereignty and security of the country.
Keeping all these facts in mind, the Ministry has declared these two organizations a banned organization for five years. Action has been taken under the illegal activities (prevention) Act, 1967.
