Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who is making his first state visit to India, said, ‘I want Indonesia and India to remain close partners and friends.’ He said, he is feeling very proud to come to India. During his address at Rashtrapati Bhavan, he also said something which made Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Foreign Minister Dr S Jaishankar present there smile.

Subianto said, ‘I am not a professional politician, I am not even a good diplomat, I just say what is in my heart. After coming to India for a few days, I have learned a lot from the leadership and commitments of Prime Minister Modi.

The Indonesian President described PM Modi as an inspiration and said, ‘His commitment to eradicating poverty, helping the marginalized and helping the most vulnerable section of the society is an inspiration for us… I look forward to serving the people of India in the years to come. Would like to extend best wishes for prosperity, peace and success.
Earlier, President Draupadi Murmu thanked Indonesian President Subianto for accepting the invitation to attend the Republic Day celebrations as the chief guest. He said that this is a historic occasion, because 75 years ago in 1950, on our first Republic Day, Indonesian President Sukarno came as the chief guest.
