Naik Dilwar Khan: President Draupadi Murmu has approved gallantry awards to 93 armed forces and Central Armed Police Forces personnel, including 11 posthumously, on the eve of the 76th Republic Day. These include two Kirti Chakras, one of which is posthumous. Posthumously, the Kirti Chakra has received the name of martyr Dilwar Khan of Himachal Pradesh.
Along with this, 14 Shaurya Chakras, including three posthumously. Bar for one Sena Medal (Gallantry), 66 Sena Medals including seven posthumous, two Navy Medals (Gallantry) and eight Air Sena Medals (Gallantry).

What happened on 23rd July 2024?
Naik Dilwar Khan was involved in an ambush on 23 July 2024 in the dense forests of Lolab Valley in Kupwara district. At around 11:30 pm, his squad saw two terrorists, one of whom was very close. His ambush squad opened fire on the terrorist. Sensing serious threat to his team from the nearby terrorist, hero Dilwar Khan, without fearing for his own life, swooped in and captured the terrorist despite heavy gunfire.
There was a scuffle with him, while the other terrorist kept firing indiscriminately from a distance. During this courageous act, hero Dilwar Khan was seriously injured. Despite being injured, he did not let go of the terrorist and opened fire and killed the terrorist before succumbing to his wounds.

Dilwar Khan was born in March 1996. He joined the Indian Army on 20 January 2014 at the age of just 18. His father’s name is Karam Deen and mother’s name is Bholan Bibi. He was passionate about joining the Indian Army since his school days. This passion made him join the Indian Army. He made the supreme sacrifice for the security of the country and became immortal forever. The entire country along with Himachal Pradesh is proud of him.
