Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday hinted that his party may contest the upcoming local body elections in the state on its own. He said that his workers are eager for this and he will take a decision on it at the appropriate time. This statement of Uddhav Thackeray has come when there are reports of differences between the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance regarding contesting the upcoming local body elections.

He was addressing party workers on the 99th birth anniversary of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray. Former Chief Minister Uddhav said on this occasion that he is talking to party workers in all the municipal corporations and he wants the party to contest the upcoming local body elections independently.

He asked the people present there, are you ready to show the traitors their place? The election is yet to be announced. Let me see your preparation and I will take a decision as per your wish. I will take a decision at the appropriate time.

Shah was also warned

Speaking further, Uddhav Thackeray targeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah for criticizing Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) over its defeat in the assembly elections held last year. He said that no one should try to play with his party. Thackeray said don’t try to mess with us. He said that if BJP betrays Maharashtra in the name of Hindutva, his party will not tolerate it. Apart from this, he challenged BJP to conduct at least one election through ballot paper.

What did Shah say?

Let us tell you that Shah had said how the victory of Mahayuti alliance in the state assembly elections has shown Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP) their place.

It is noteworthy that Shiv Sena (UBT) is a constituent party of the opposition MVA along with Congress and NCP (SP). Thackeray’s statement comes after party leader Sanjay Raut’s announcement in which Raut had said that his party will contest the local body elections alone. Since this statement, a question mark has been raised on the unity of the opposition MVA.

MVA suffered a crushing defeat in Maharashtra Assembly elections

Let us tell you that in the state assembly elections held in November last year, the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance consisting of Congress, Shiv Sena UBT and Sharad Pawar’s NCP SP had to face a crushing defeat. Out of 288 assembly seats in the state, it could win only 46 seats. In this, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena UBT won 20, Congress 16 and Sharad Pawar’s NCP-SP won only 10 assembly seats.
