Today is the second day of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ethiopia. Where he first visited the Adwa Victory Memorial in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and paid tribute. After this he addressed the session of the Joint Parliament of Ethiopia. During this, PM Modi emphasized on the special relationship and strong friendship between India and Ethiopia. He said that I am grateful to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed for the honor I received from Ethiopia yesterday – Nishan-e-Ethiopia. We thank the Ethiopian government and Prime Minister.
PM Modi said that Ethiopia is one of the oldest civilizations in the world. Here history is visible in the hills, villages and also in the hearts of the people. Today Ethiopia is standing on its feet. He said that this balance, the confluence of the old and the new, is Ethiopia’s unique strength. This energy is quite familiar to us Indians.
India-Ethiopia bilateral relationships But PM Modi said
During this, he also emphasized on the strengthening diplomatic relations between India and Ethiopia. He said that Indian companies have seen a lot of business potential in Ethiopia. Indian companies have invested more than 5 billion dollars here and have provided jobs to many people. But I believe that there is still great potential in our trade relations. PM Modi said that we have decided that our bilateral relations will now be taken to the level of diplomatic partnership.

This will grow our economies together. We will work together in areas ranging from mining, green energy and many more. Apart from this, we will also increase our cooperation in health security and work for food security. We can do a lot of work for the agriculture sector also. We can use our knowledge to tackle climate change.
Roads between India and Ethiopia were built 2000 years ago: PM Modi
PM Modi said that about 2000 years ago, sea connectivity was established between India and Ethiopia. At that time traders used to come and go carrying spices and gold through the Indian Ocean. But this trade was not limited to just goods, but ideas and lifestyle were also exchanged. He said ports like Addis Ababa and Dholavira were not just trade centres, but bridges connecting civilizations.
Along with this, the Prime Minister also reminded that the relations between India and Ethiopia have become stronger in modern history. He said that Indian soldiers fought along with the Ethiopian people for the independence of Ethiopia in 1941.
PM also spoke on economic relations between India and Ethiopia
After this, PM Modi talked about the economic relations between the two countries. He said that Indian companies are among the largest investors in Ethiopia. Till now, Indian companies have invested more than 5 billion dollars in different sectors, which has provided employment to more than 75 thousand people. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India and Ethiopia have now decided to elevate their bilateral relations to the level of strategic partnership. He said that this will further strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
