The winter session of Parliament continues. Two topics were discussed in Parliament last week. The first discussion was on completion of 150 years of Vande Mataram and the second discussion was on electoral reforms. In this discussion held in both the houses, every side expressed its views. Which party achieved what through this discussion? Who took the lead where? What positive aspects emerged from this discussion? These questions were discussed in Khabaron Ke Khiladi this week. Senior journalists Ramkripal Singh, Vinod Agnihotri, Sameer Chaugaonkar, Rakesh Shukla, Purnima Tripathi were present for the discussion.
Purnima Tripathi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi quotes only those facts which suit him. He talked about Jinnah’s objection, but did not tell when and where Vande Mataram was sung for the first time. On the pretext of Jinnah’s objection, the ruling party definitely gets an opportunity to criticize Nehru. Bengal elections are ahead, this song has great importance there. Through this issue the Prime Minister also gave a message to the voters there.
Ramkripal Singh: This is the most positive aspect of this session, when both sides agreed to discuss. Both sides came together to discuss these two topics. After this, this is the first time that Rahul Gandhi said that we will talk on pollution. For this, the ruling party and the opposition are talking about coming together. This is a very good sign that instead of digging into history too much, you should talk about current challenges and make plans for the future.
Rakesh Shukla: If we compare Rahul and Priyanka, I think sister Priyanka was better. I did not find Rahul Gandhi ji’s presentation very effective. Somewhere Rahul Gandhi could not capitalize on a better platform and opportunity that well. Priyanka Gandhi presented her party’s side as a good lawyer.
Sameer Chaugaonkar: The Central Government had decided that there would be discussion on Vande Mataram. See, whatever is good or bad before independence will definitely be associated with Congress. Because there was no BJP at that time. It is also certain that BJP will take up whatever bad happened at that time. Congress will have to see that whatever is good at that time is taken up in a strong manner. The space that Rahul Gandhi got. Rahul is the leader of the opposition. SIR was your biggest issue. I think he missed his own biggest point. Priyanka’s speech was definitely better in this matter.
Vinod Agnihotri: I think Priyanka Gandhi presented the facts very well on the issue of Vande Mataram. Gaurav Gogoi also presented the facts on this issue in a very good manner. It was decided as part of the strategy that Rahul would speak on SIR and Priyanka would speak on Vande Mataram. Secondly, it was also decided that Priyanka would speak in Hindi and Rahul would speak in English. I think the best speech on the issue of electoral reforms was given by Manish Tiwari.
