Bidding farewell as the 26th US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti praised his entire tenure and India’s hospitality. Garcetti said in the video message that this is a country where I first came as a child and then as a student. The people of India welcomed me warmly.
Garcetti said that since I arrived in New Delhi to serve as the 26th US Ambassador, India has felt like home to me. The friendship and vivacity of your people touches me every day. I visited 28 states of India and experienced the culture and heritage of the country closely. I crossed the ghats of Banaras, crossed the bridge of living roots of Meghalaya. Sailed through the backwaters of Kerala. Cheering for India at Modi Stadium and playing hoops with girls in Mumbai. I saw the ancient royalty and modern new technology of Hyderabad. Also visited the culture of Kolkata and ancient temples of Chennai. He said that now we have started the new American Consulate in Bangalore.
“We saw business grow,” Garcetti said. Also have seen our people celebrating together. Garcetti stressed the strong ties between the US and India, saying that America sees its future with India and India sees its future with America. He further said that both countries are better when they are together. The greater the contacts between the people of America and India, the more opportunities there will be for economic and educational exchanges. He said that as relations between America and India grow, there will be economic and educational progress in both the countries.
India close to my heart
US Ambassador Garcetti said that India is close to my heart. I will always love America because I was born there. But India is a place where I learned to paint life in full colours. Where humanity can understand our past. This is a reflection of our faith. He concluded his message by saying that our relationship is truly an everlasting story of love spanning centuries. We’re just getting started. My Friend The Film Isn’t Over Yet.

PM Modi and President Biden have taken our exciting and important US-India partnership to new heights. What seemed unimaginable a generation ago will seem inevitable a generation from now, thanks to the work of these leaders and the people of our nation. Thanks to the Prime Minister and thanks to all Indians. It has been a pleasure to help co-write this chapter with you.
