15-year-old Yasmin Kausar of Baddal village of Rajori, who was fighting for her life for the last eight days, died at SMGS Hospital Jammu on Sunday. In the last 43 days, 17 people, including 12 children, from three families of the village have died. The inter-ministerial team formed on the instructions of Union Home Minister Amit Shah has started investigating the matter. The team held a meeting with officers in Jammu and Rajori and took information about the developments. The team will go to Baddal on Monday. Security has been increased in the village. At the same time, the army has also gathered for service in Baddal.

An 11-member high-level inter-ministerial team of the Union Home Ministry reached Jammu on Sunday to find out the reason for the deaths in Baddal village. The central team held a meeting with the concerned officials for about one and a half hour in the afternoon at the Principal Office of GMC Jammu and took detailed information about the developments in Baddal. Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Abid Rashid Shah informed the team about the entire incident and the steps taken by the health department. The central team includes experts and officials from the ministries of Health and Family Welfare, Food Safety, Agriculture, Chemicals and Fertilizers, Water Resources. Along with investigating the reasons for the deaths in Baddal, this team will also give suggestions to ensure that no such incident happens in future.

The continuous deaths in Baddal have become a topic of discussion in the entire country. The Health Department has also accepted that no infectious disease has been confirmed in the samples sent to the reputed laboratories of the country. Toxin i.e. poisonous substance has been found in some samples. It is feared that all the deaths were due to some poison. On the other hand, the police is investigating on criminal aspects. For this, a special investigation team (SIT) of high level police has been appointed.

Shakiya Begum discharged from hospital

The health of Shakia Begum, wife of Mohammad Aslam and mother of Yasmin, admitted in GMC Rajori, has improved. The doctors have discharged him from the hospital.

Army provided tents, ration and essential items

Army has also started serving in Baddal. The army is providing tents, ration, water and other essential items to the people. Local resident Mohammad Bashir said that the army has provided us food, water and essential items for 4-5 days. We are grateful to the Army for its help in this difficult time.
