Four accused, including three minors, stabbed cab driver Ram Singh (28) with knives for mobile phone robbery in Nizamuddin police station area of South Delhi around 11 pm on Wednesday night. He was seriously injured in the attack and lay bleeding under the open sky in the cold for 7-8 hours. No one informed the police nor took him to the hospital. The young man died there in agony.
After getting the information, the police kept Ram Singh’s body in the hospital for postmortem and informed his family. Considering the seriousness of the case, the South-East District Police took immediate action and arrested three minor accused and one adult accused Imran. Many criminal cases are already registered against Imran. South-East District Police Deputy Commissioner Hemant Tiwari has confirmed the arrest of the accused.
Ram Singh was a resident of Ayodhya
According to the police, Ram Singh, a resident of Ayedhya, UP, used to drive a cab in Delhi. The taxi was his own. He was so poor that he used to sleep in a taxi at night. After 11 pm, he had gone to defecate near a drain, some distance from Nizamuddin Railway Station near Barapula. Here the four accused caught him and started looting his mobile. When he protested, he was stabbed about 7 to 8 times with a knife. The accused looted his mobile and money and ran away from there. Some passerby informed the police about this on Thursday morning. By the time the police reached, the deceased Ram Singh was dead.
The accused were identified through CCTV cameras
The District Deputy Commissioner of Police took the matter seriously and deployed Operation Cell teams to arrest the accused. When the Operation Cell teams searched the footage of CCTV cameras, he was seen in the footage. Police officials said that if the injured had been detected in time, his life might have been saved. Nizamuddin police station arrested the adult accused Imran. Further investigation is ongoing.
