In the last few days, many big names have left Apple and now the company has suffered another big blow. Now designer Alan Dye, who designed the liquid glass interface for the iPhone, has also said goodbye to the company. After working at Apple for nearly 20 years, Dye will now join Meta as Chief Design Officer. Dye will take charge at Meta from December 31.
It has been a long journey with Apple
Dye started working with Apple in 2006. He started his career as a creative director in the marketing and communication team, but in 2012 he joined Jony Ive’s designing team. In this way, he has been a part of Apple’s software designing team for the last several years. When Ive became Apple’s Chief Design Officer in 2015, Dye was made head of the user interface design team. While holding this position, he has worked on the visual aspect of software from iPhone to MacBook. Under his supervision, Apple designed the interface of Vision Pro and the recently launched iOS 26 was also prepared under his supervision. After Dye’s departure, Stephen Lemay will replace him, who has been with Apple for the last 25 years.
Dye will play this role in Meta
Meta has handed over the reins of its design studio to Dye. This design studio will work on software as well as hardware design. Its special focus will be on the company’s AI powered headset and smart glasses. After the arrival of Dye, it is believed that Meta also wants to give a unifying look to its ecosystem like Apple.
