Taking major action, the police has exposed an international drug racket linked to Pakistan. Six people were arrested and about five kilos of heroin was recovered. The price of heroin is said to be around Rs 30 crore in the international market. This racket was smuggling drugs from the border area for a long time.
According to the police, this was not just smuggling but a direct narco-terrorist conspiracy going on against the country. Most of the gang members live near the international border. Three pistols have also been recovered from them. Earlier in November, two smugglers of the gang were arrested with 3.26 kg heroin.
SP (South) Jammu Ajay Sharma held a press conference on Thursday. He said that the entire network was connected to smugglers living in Pakistan. The court has sent the four accused to judicial custody. Police have seized 4.95 kg heroin and three pistols. Investigation found that the accused were in contact with handlers from Pakistan and narcotics were being supplied from across the border. This matter is clearly related to narco-terrorism. Sections of UAPA have also been applied in the case.
