The country’s largest airline Indigo is going through a huge operational crisis these days. The incidents of flight cancellations and delays have been increasing continuously in the last few days. In view of this situation, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Ministry of Civil Aviation have reviewed the matter and have instructed the airline to improve. According to reports, IndiGo canceled over 550 domestic and international flights on Thursday and services were delayed at several airports as the operational disruption continued for the third consecutive day, affecting the travel plans of hundreds of passengers.
Sharp increase in canceled flights in Indigo
According to DGCA, the number of flight cancellations in IndiGo has now reached 170 to 200 per day, which is many times more than the normal situation. DGCA said that they are keeping a close watch on this entire issue and the ticket fares will also be monitored so that no airline can take advantage of it.

Miscalculation and planning mistake – Indigo
In a reply sent to DGCA, IndiGo admitted that the reason for flight cancellations was due to errors in planning and miscalculation of crew availability while implementing the new flight duty time norms. The airline said the situation is temporary and corrective measures are being taken.
When will the situation improve?
According to Indigo, more flights will be canceled for the next two-three days so that the schedule can be stabilized. From December 8, the company will reduce the number of flights so that operations can become normal. Fully operational operations are claimed to be restored by 10 February 2026.
