Vivek, son of Umakant Singh, resident of Dharwara village of Karchana police station area, was a soldier in the army and was posted in Delhi. On Saturday he had come home on leave to attend his cousin’s wedding. On the wedding night, he went to drop his friend Vinay Jain to Kohdar Bazaar by car along with Karan Singh of the same village.
While returning, he had an altercation with youths riding a Scorpio who were returning from a marriage procession near Dharwara turn over overtaking. Then his head was attacked from behind with an iron rod. Due to this Vivek fell and became unconscious.
The family first took him to Karchhana CHC and after being referred from there, he took him to the Army Hospital in Lucknow where he died at around 3 am on Monday. There was an uproar in the family after getting information about this.
The accused were identified from the vehicle number, during interrogation they said – he was not giving the pass.
Following the dispute over overtaking the vehicle, a large number of people reached the police station and started demanding action on the news of the death of a soldier who was attacked with a rod by five people, including an ASI (Assistant Sub Inspector) riding a Scorpio. On receiving information about the death of soldier Vivek, DCP Yamunanagar Vivek Chandra Yadav and ACP Karchana Arun Tripathi reached the spot with the team and after talking to the family members, assured the arrest of the accused.
