The full schedule of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup has been released. 55 matches will be played between 20 teams at a total of 8 venues in India and Sri Lanka. The tournament will start on 7th February, teams like India and Pakistan will be in the field on the very first day. There will be 3 matches each day in the group stage. The World Cup final will be held on March 8, after which the Indian Premier League can begin a week later. But the Lanka Premier League, which was to be held before the World Cup, has been postponed, which will now take place in July-August next year.

The Lanka Premier League is organized by Sri Lanka Cricket. LPL was to be organized this month (December, 2025), but the Sri Lanka Cricket Board is currently busy in preparations for the World Cup. India and Sri Lanka are jointly hosting the T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan will play all its matches in Sri Lanka. If the Pakistan team reaches the final then the title match will also be held in Colombo.

When will Lanka Premier League take place?

Due to T20 World Cup 2026, the organization of Lanka Premier League has been postponed by 8 months. While posting officially, Sri Lanka Cricket said that the sixth edition of LPL will be organized between 8 July to 8 August 2026.

Sri Lanka Cricket wrote in its post, “In view of the great need to prepare the ‘host venue’ for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, the Lanka Premier League has been postponed. The World Cup will be co-hosted by Sri Lanka and India during February-March 2026. With this decision, this five-team tournament, Sri Lanka’s biggest domestic T20 competition, like many previous editions, will return in the middle of the year.”


T20 World Cup 2026 matches will be held at 3 venues in Sri Lanka

The T20 World Cup 2026 will be held at a total of 8 venues. Its matches will be held in 5 cities of India (Ahmedabad, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai). R Premadasa Stadium (Colombo), SSC Cricket Ground (Colombo) and Pallekele Cricket Stadium (Kandy) have been selected as the 3 venues of Sri Lanka. India vs Pakistan match will be held on 15th February at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
