Congress Working Committee member and MP Shashi Tharoor remained absent from the important party meeting for the second consecutive time, after which the discussion about his role and stance has again intensified in political circles. Tharoor was not present at the Congress strategic committee meeting led by Sonia Gandhi on Sunday. This meeting was called regarding the winter session of Parliament.
Also absent on SIR issue, but seen in Modi program
A few days ago, Tharoor did not even attend the meeting called on the SIR issue, when he had given the reason as illness. But questions arose when he was present at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s program a day before that. After this, posts praising PM Modi were also seen on his Instagram account, which increased the resentment within the party.

Tharoor’s clarification – was on a trip with his mother
Tharoor’s office said that he was in Kerala and was returning on a later flight along with his 90-year-old mother, hence could not attend the meeting. On the other hand, due to local election campaign, Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal also could not reach the meeting.
Congress leaders expressed displeasure
A Congress leader told ANI that Shashi Tharoor’s problem is that perhaps he does not understand the country that much. If you think that the policies of PM Modi or BJP are better, then why are you in Congress? If you don’t give clarification, it’s a double standard. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet also said that I did not find anything praiseworthy in PM Modi’s speech. He kept targeting Congress continuously. I don’t understand what Tharoor liked about that.

Questions are being raised again on Tharoor-Congress relationship
The sourness in relations between Congress and Shashi Tharoor is not new, especially after Operation Sindoor when Tharoor made positive comments towards PM Modi on several occasions. Now his absence from two consecutive important meetings has raised new questions about his commitment within the party.
