IND vs SA 1st Test: Bumrah becomes the opener, breaks 7 year old record

IND vs SA 1st Test: India vs South Africa On the very first day of the first Test, Jasprit Bumrah told why he is considered the most dangerous fast bowler in the world. In his very first spell at the Eden Gardens ground in Kolkata, Bumrah did something amazing which no other bowler could do in the last seven years. As soon as he sent both the openers of the opposing team to the pavilion, he made a big record in his name.

Did this feat in 7 years

From 2018 till now, the record of dismissing openers the most number of times in Test cricket was in the name of England’s Stuart Broad. He did this 12 times during this period. Bumrah broke this record by taking the wickets of both the openers in his opening spell in the first innings of the first Test against South Africa. Now Bumrah has become the number-1 bowler in Test cricket who has dismissed the openers 13 times in the last 7 years. His achievement is not just a matter of statistics, but is a testament to his consistently dangerous performance.

Wreaked havoc in the first spell itself

Bumrah’s first spell in the very first match against South Africa was completely classic.

He bowled 7 overs. In which 4 overs were maiden. During this period he spent only 9 runs. He also took 2 wickets in his bowling. First he clean bowled Ryan Rickleton with a brilliant in-swinger. The speed of the ball was more than 140 km/h, which went straight into the batsman’s stump. Then Aiden Markram was caught by Rishabh Pant behind the wicket and sent to the pavilion. Pant took full advantage of Bumrah’s ball by taking the first brilliant catch after returning from injury.

Ashwin’s record also broken

By bowling Richlton, Bumrah has made another big record in his name. This was his 152nd bowled wicket, and with this he left Ravichandran Ashwin (151) behind. Now Bumrah has reached third place in the list of Indians taking the most bowled wickets in Test cricket.

1. Anil Kumble – 186 bld

2. Kapil Dev – 167 bld

3. Jasprit Bumrah – 152 bld

4. R. Ashwin- 151 bld

Bad start for South Africa

In front of Bumrah’s aggressive bowling, South Africa’s top order line-up looked like a pack of cards. In the first hour of the match, the pressure on the team increased so much that the African batsmen did not get a chance to establish themselves.
