All eyes will be on Chhapra seat for the results of Bihar Assembly elections coming today. Chhapra is one of the hottest seats among the 243 seats in the state. Famous Bhojpuri cinema singer and actor Khesari Lal Yadav is contesting from this seat. Rashtriya Janata Dal has made him its candidate. The party had earlier given ticket to his wife, but later Khesari was made the candidate from this seat. Now Khesari will try to destroy the fort of BJP.
NDA ahead by 2380 votes in third round counting
In the third round of counting, BJP candidate Chhoti Kumari is leading by 2380 votes with 9447 votes. While RJD candidate Bhojpuri star Khesari Lal Yadav (Shatrughan Yadav) is at second place with 7067 votes.
Competition between total 10 candidates
There is a contest between a total of 10 candidates on this seat. Apart from BJP, RJD and Jansuraj, Bharatiya Ekta Dal, Bharatiya Lok Chetna Party, Azad Samaj Party (Kansi Ram) have fielded their candidates. Apart from this, four independents are also in the fray. Although the real contest is between RJD and BJP, Jansuraj can also make an impact.
Khesari’s reputation at stake
RJD candidate Khesari Lal Yadav is a big face from here and his credibility will be at stake. Because, BJP has won the last two elections here and as part of its strategy, this time it has changed the candidate and given the ticket to a local leader. In such a situation, Khesari’s path will be difficult. There were close fights here in 2015 and 2020. However, on both the occasions, BJP’s CN Gupta defeated RJD’s Randhir Kumar Singh. In such a situation, Khesari can get the benefit of his popularity and win the election.
