After a long time, a romantic comedy has arrived in Hindi cinema, which is not completely perfect, but definitely entertains. On one hand ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ is a light-hearted family comedy, on the other hand it also takes a dig at relationships, age gap and the limitations of modernity. The film falters at many places, but succeeds in keeping the audience engaged.
story of the film
The film starts from there after the first part. Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh) wants to introduce Ashish (Ajay Devgan) to her family. When a family that claims to be modern and open-minded finds out the age of their daughter’s boyfriend, they resort to various tactics, which is where the real drama begins.
The first part is very funny, light-hearted and full of constant laughter. The changed attitude of Ayesha’s parents, Meezaan’s entry and the conflict between Ajay-Madhavan give pace to the film.
The story slows down a bit in the second half. Many scenes take longer than necessary, making the drama feel heavy. However, the twist in the last 20–30 minutes again draws the audience into the story and the film gets back into entertainment gear.
acting in film
Ajay Devgan impresses with his cool, effortless humor and emotional moments.R. Madhavan proves to be the strongest actor of the film. Anger, humor and sensitivity play all three very well. Rakul Preet Singh is brilliant in the lighter scenes, but seems a bit loud in the emotional scenes. Javed Jaffrey gives constant laughs with his comic timing and one-liners. Meezaan is a pleasant surprise of the film, impresses in all three with energy, screen presence and dance. Gautami Kapoor and Ishita Dutta add warmth to their characters.
Direction and technical aspects of the film
Anshul Sharma has tried to keep the tone of the film light, colorful and fast-paced. The first part is strong and gripping. The second part stretches in many places. Some emotional scenes are effective, some feel artificial. Good satire on the family’s ‘progressive but actually conservative’ mindset.

‘Teen Shokh’ and ‘Jhoom Barabar’ are already popular and leave a good impact on the screen too. But there is no romantic song in the film like the first part, which the audience can remember.
Why watch the movie?
If you want to watch family comedy, light drama, stories of tussle in relationships and fun confrontation between Ajay-Madhavan, then this film is a good weekend option. The film comes with its shortcomings, but it also provides complete entertainment. Not too big, not too small… just worth seeing.
