Tech giant Google has issued a warning for those using public Wi-Fi. Google says that this gives cyber criminals an opportunity to trap people. They can take advantage of the unsecured network of public Wi-Fi to steal sensitive information like back account logins, personal data and private chats.
Do not do this work on public Wi-Fi
Google has mentioned this danger in its latest Android: Behind the Screen report. It has been said in the report that the threat to public Wi-Fi has increased amid increasing cases of fraud on mobile. The company said that while banking, online shopping and accessing accounts containing financial or personal details, do not use public Wi-Fi even by mistake. Also, the company has advised to disable the auto-connect setting and confirm that it is encrypted before connecting to any network.
400 billion dollars of people lost in cyber crime
This warning of Google has come at a time when the number of cyber crimes is increasing rapidly in the country and the world. Google says that mobile scams have now become a global underground industry, which is causing financial loss as well as emotional loss to people. Google’s report has estimated that within the last one year, people across the world have suffered a loss of 400 billion dollars due to cyber crime and only a part of this has been recovered. The tech giant says that now cyber criminals are completely organized and running their operations like a business. They are committing fraud in ways ranging from purchasing stolen phone numbers to giving fake delivery alerts.
