Now there will be no need to stand in line to get general or platform tickets at the railway station. Indian Railways is working on installing AVTM i.e. Automatic Ticket Vending Machine at all the stations in the country. Through this machine you can easily book general i.e. unreserved and platform tickets. It is very easy to book tickets through this and there will be no need to stand in long queues.

Especially during festivals and special occasions, there is a lot of crowd at the railway station, due to which there are long queues at the UTS ticket counter. Many times even railway passengers miss their trains due to this. In such a situation, you can easily book your journey and platform tickets from the AVTM installed at the station. AVTM is very easy to use. Indian Railways has explained the complete method of booking tickets through AVTM.

How to use AVTM?

AVTM is used to book unreserved and platform tickets as well as renew season tickets. You can book tickets through AVTM in two ways. You can make payment through UPI app in your phone or smart card issued by Railways.

How to use automatic ticket vending machine

  • First of all, go to the AVTM installed at the railway station and select your destination using the map.
  • After this choose the route of travel.
  • Then choose how many tickets you want to book and go to the payment option.
  • Here you will get the option of UPI payment through QR code apart from Railway Smart Card or Rail Wallet.
  • If you pay through smart card, place your card in the smart card reader and collect the ticket after payment.
  • Whereas, if you choose the option of UPI payment through QR code, then go to the UPI app on the phone, scan the QR and make the payment and get the ticket.
  • To use Rail Wallet, you will have to go to the UTS app on your phone and make payment using the registered mobile number and OTP. After this get the ticket.

Indian Railways has installed a large number of AVTMs in all major stations so that railway passengers do not have to stand in long queues for unreserved, platform and season tickets and to ease the travel.
