The longest shutdown in American history is finally coming to an end. On Wednesday, the US Congress passed a bill ending the shutdown. Now this bill has been sent to President Trump for signature. With President Trump’s signature, the 43-day shutdown will end.

In the House of Representatives, the ruling Republican Party passed the bill by a vote of 222-209. The Senate has already passed this bill and now it just awaits President Trump’s signature. President Trump called the passage of the bill a huge victory. It is noteworthy that the Democratic Party is demanding to increase the tax credit for health coverage provided under the Affordable Care Act. This tax credit expires at the end of this year. If the government does not increase the tax credit, the health coverage people get will become expensive. The shutdown dragged on for so long over this issue, but the Republican Party did not agree and ultimately the Democratic Party had to bow down.
