Prime Minister Modi is on Bhutan tour and Wednesday is the second day of his Bhutan tour. On Wednesday, PM Modi attended a bilateral meeting with Bhutan’s fourth King Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck and discussed strengthening the partnership between the two countries. The Prime Minister inaugurated the ‘Kalachakra Abhishek’ program with King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan in Thimphu on Wednesday.
After the meeting, PM Modi wrote in a post shared on social media that ‘Had a wonderful meeting with Druk Gyalpo, the fourth king of Nepal. Appreciated his extensive efforts over the years to further strengthen India-Bhutan relations. Cooperation in energy, trade, technology and connectivity were discussed. Appreciated the progress of the Gelephu Mindfulness City project, which is in line with our Act East policy.
King of Bhutan issued statement
The King of Bhutan has issued an official statement expressing condolences to the people who lost their lives in the Delhi blast. Also wished for the speedy recovery of those injured in the incident. The Government of India praised the support and solidarity of the Government of Bhutan. Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed India’s support to Bhutan’s 13th Five Year Plan, including its economic stimulus programme, and assured Bhutan of active support in achieving its key development priorities and pursuing sustainable development in all sectors.
