YouTube New Button: YouTube has currently activated a new ‘Ask’ button which will work with the help of Gemini AI and is currently operational for select users. This feature helps viewers interact more with YouTube’s video content. With its help, viewers can ask questions about the video content they are watching on the YouTube platform, get a summary of it, ask questions about its main concepts and even take part in quizzes. This feature will be available to access on all platforms of YouTube. There is a strong possibility that like the Gemini chat assistant, it will also be able to suggest prompts for quick replies.

‘Ask’ button will come with Gemini icon

YouTube’s ‘Ask’ button can currently be found below selected YouTube videos and video players along with the Gemini icon. It is currently positioned between the “Share” and “Download” options. It can be viewed on iPhone, Android and Windows platforms and through this feature viewers can ask questions about the video they are watching.Ask Button

How does this ‘Ask’ button work?

Tapping the ‘Ask’ button will open a pop-up window where users can either type in their own questions or choose from suggested prompts, such as selecting ‘summarises the video’. Apart from this, you can also choose topics like recommended content or more. Its responses are generated by Large Language Modules (LLMs).

Available for YouTube Premium and non-Premium users

This Ask button is currently available to all YouTube Premium and non-Premium users. YouTube’s help page has confirmed that the conversational AI tool is currently available in English and for users over 18 years of age. Currently, this feature is available to viewers in America, Canada, New Zealand and India.
