Ashok Sawant, who was Abhishek Bachchan’s makeup artist for a long time, passed away on November 9. The actor has paid tribute to Ashok Sawant by writing an emotional note on social media.
Abhishek has expressed grief by sharing his photo with Ashok Sawant on Instagram. He also told in his post that his health was not well for the last few years. Even after this, he was doing his work with full dedication.
In his note, Abhishek said that ‘Ashok Dada’ was the first person whose feet he touched on the sets before the first shot of his films.
Abhishek writes- ‘Ashok Dada and I have worked together for more than 27 years. He has been doing my makeup since my first film. He was not just a part of my team, he was a part of my family. His elder brother Deepak has been my father’s make-up man for almost 50 years. He was ill for the last few years, so he was not always able to be with me on the set. But whenever I was shooting, there was not a single day when he would not keep an eye on me.
Making sure his assistant was doing my makeup. He was the sweetest, gentle and friendly person. Always a smile on his face, a warm hug and some amazing salty chivda or bhakar vadi in his bag.’
Abhishek further writes- ‘We lost him last night. He was the first person whose feet I touched to seek blessings whenever I gave the first shot of a new film. From now on before I take a shot I have to look up to the sky and know that you will look down and bless me.
Thank you, Dada, for your love, your care, your dignity, your talent and your smile. It’s heartbreaking to think about going to work and knowing you won’t be with me. I pray to God that you rest in peace there and I look forward to lovingly hugging you when we meet again. May your soul rest in peace and happiness. Om Shanti.’
Fans and celebs are expressing grief over this post of the actor. Priyanka Chopra reacted with a broken heart emoji. Actor Jackie Shroff wrote- ‘Om Shanti, he was a gentle person. My condolences. Apart from this, celebs like Remo D’Souza, Lara Dutta, Zoya Akhtar, Ahana Kumra and Tarun Mansukhani have also paid tribute through comments.
