The incident took place in Mansa city on October 28, when two bike riders opened fire at a pesticide shop. After preliminary investigation, the police arrested Gurshab Singh, Ramanpreet Singh and Baljinder Singh and recovered weapons from them.
Shop owner’s son is studying in Canada
Mansa SSP Bhagirath Singh Meena said that investigation has revealed that the son of a pesticide shop owner is studying in Canada and was taking part in the student union elections there. After his defeat in the elections, his opposition group Manjot Singh (resident of Jalandhar) had opened fire on his family.
Three accused live abroad
SSP said that Manjot Singh has been arrested in this case. A 9 mm pistol, two cartridges, a 32 bore pistol and four cartridges have been recovered from him. Apart from this, Rajan Bhagat (Batala, who lives abroad), Sharanjeet Singh alias Sharan Aulakh (Gurdaspur, Canada) and Jaspreet Singh Lalumajra (Australia) have also been named.
