Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Sunday ‘did 10 pushups as punishment’ for arriving two minutes late at the ongoing Congress training camp at Pachmarhi in Narmadapuram district of Madhya Pradesh. A party leader gave this information.
Madhya Pradesh Congress media coordinator Abhinav Barolia told PTI over phone, ‘This is not a new or surprising thing for our leader Rahul ji. In our camp, we strictly follow discipline. There is a democracy in the party where everyone is equal and is treated equally. There is no ‘bossism’ like BJP in our party.
Punishment was fixed for arriving late
According to party sources, Sachin Rao, head of the training department of All India Congress Committee, had fixed a punishment of 10 pushups for the participants for arriving late at the camp being run under the organization creation campaign. The Organization Creation Campaign (SSA) aims to strengthen the party at the grassroots level ahead of the 2028 state assembly elections. This training camp will end on 11th November.
Rahul Gandhi returned to Bihar for campaigning
When Rao was contacted over phone, he refused to comment on the issue. Barolia told that Rahul Gandhi returned to Bihar on Sunday for election campaign. This was the second visit of the opposition leader to Madhya Pradesh in five months. Rahul Gandhi had started the organization creation campaign in Madhya Pradesh from Bhopal in June.
It is noteworthy that Rahul Gandhi is in the headlines these days. He has made serious allegations of irregularities on BJP and Election Commission. He said, ‘A few days ago I had told about the Haryana model, where 25 lakh votes were stolen – one vote out of every 8. We have evidence and we will gradually make it public.
Shehzad Poonawala’s counterattack
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala hit back at Rahul Gandhi’s allegations. He said, ‘For Rahul Gandhi, LOP does not mean Leader of Party, but ‘Leader of Tourism and Party’. Elections are going on in Bihar and he is doing jungle safari in Pachmarhi. If they lose the elections then they will blame the Election Commission.
