Roshan Kujur, who plays the midfielder position in the Indian hockey team, told Times of India, “It was not that we were forbidden from shaking hands. As players, we came to play with hard work and commitment and we did not see them as our enemies. That’s why we shook hands. They are also players like us.”
This Indian player further said that he always wants to win against Pakistan. He said, “We want to beat them every time, but the match was a draw. Still, it was a good match.”
India had lost in the final
The match between India and Pakistan in the league stage was a 3-3 draw. Pakistan team finished fourth, while the final match between India and Australia was played on 18 October. Till the 58th minute, the match was tied at one each, but when 2 minutes were left in the match, the Kangaroo team scored a goal and took a 2-1 lead. He won the final by maintaining this lead.
