An Indian origin businessman was murdered in Edmonton city of Canada. The man named RV Singh Sagoo (55 years) had gone for dinner with his girlfriend. When he returned, a stranger was urinating on his car. When the Indian man stopped him, he attacked him. The accused has been identified as Kyle Papin and has been arrested by the local police.
Murdered when stopped from urinating on car
RV Singh Sagu interrupted the stranger and said, “Hey, what are you doing?” To which the man replied, “I will do whatever I want.” He then went to Sagoo and punched him on the head, causing him to fall on the ground. According to the report of Global News, Sagu’s brother told that after this attack his girlfriend called the police. Later he was again brought to the hospital and kept on life support. However, he died after 5 days.
The accused will be presented in the court
This incident is of 19 October 2025. Police clarified that the victim and the accused did not know each other before. The accused will be presented in the court on November 4. The incident has sparked anger among the Indian community in Canada, where concerns are growing over the increasing number of racially motivated attacks.
Attacks on people of South Asian origin are increasing in Canada.
The increasing hatred towards people of Indian and South Asian origin in Canada remains a matter of concern. A new report by the Britain-based Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD), which studies extremism, has found that crimes against South Asian communities in Canada have increased by 227 percent between 2019 and 2023. ISD said that these incidents are also happening online.
