Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will visit India in December. Sources having knowledge of this matter say that during the tour, Nadella will hold meetings with government officials in Delhi and participate in many other programs. He will also address conferences related to AI in Mumbai and Bengaluru. He also plans to meet with Microsoft employees in India. This is Nadella’s second visit to India this year. However, no official comment has been made by the company yet.
Nadella’s visit coming at an important time
This visit of Nadella is taking place at a time when America and India are trying to forget the differences in their relations and move forward. US President Donald Trump has imposed heavy tariffs on India. On the other hand, the Indian government is promoting Made in India apps and services instead of American companies. Zoho Corporation is one such company, which is providing cheap alternatives to cloud-based software made by Microsoft.
Nadella met Modi in January
Nadella had visited India earlier this year. During his visit in January, he had announced an investment of $ 3 billion in the field of AI in India. He also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Let us tell you that in view of India’s huge population, tech companies are increasing their investment in India. Google had also announced this month that it would invest $15 billion in the next five years to set up an AI data center in Andhra Pradesh. Google is giving its premium AI tools to Indian students for free. Similarly, Microsoft-backed OpenAI has said that it will provide one year free subscription of ChatGPT Go to its Indian users.
