Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are reportedly in search of a quality spinner ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) mini-auction, which is expected to be held in December.
SRH captain Pat Cummins had messaged wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav to express interest in bringing him to the team last year.
Kuldeep has been in exceptional form across all formats. He was India’s best performer in the Asia Cup 2025, finishing as the highest wicket-taker with 17 scalps in seven matches.

Pat Cummins Messaged Kuldeep Yadav Last Year – Rohit Juglan
RepSports journalist Rohit Juglan revealed on his YouTube channel that SunRisers Hyderabad have been searching for a quality spinner ahead of the next IPL season.
Juglan stated that Pat Cummins had approached Kuldeep Yadav last year to discuss the possibility of joining SRH. He also noted that the franchise is still looking for a bowler capable of delivering four reliable overs.
“SRH were looking for a spinner, as I mentioned earlier. Last year, Pat Cummins messaged Kuldeep Yadav. There were discussions between Cummins and Kuldeep about whether he was interested in joining. Zeeshan looks like a very good option,” Juglan said.
“He plays for the Meerut Mavericks in the UP T20 League. Zeeshan is definitely a strong contender. However, I still believe SRH are searching for someone who can deliver those crucial four overs with quality. As for batting, I don’t think they will release Ishan Kishan,” he added.
Kuldeep Yadav Has Been a Key Performer for the Delhi Capitals in Recent IPL Seasons
Kuldeep Yadav has been a vital part of the Delhi Capitals (DC) setup since IPL 2022. His consistent performances over the years have made him one of the most reliable spinners in the league.
Delhi secured Kuldeep for ₹2 crore at the 2022 mega auction. Ahead of the IPL 2025 season, the franchise showed immense faith in him by retaining the left-arm wrist-spinner for a hefty ₹13.25 crore.
Kuldeep picked up 15 wickets in 14 matches at an economy rate of 7.08 and an average of 24.07, with his best figures being 3/22. His control and wicket-taking ability have cemented his place as a key member of the DC bowling unit.
SunRisers Hyderabad Endured Disappointing IPL 2025 Campaign
SunRisers Hyderabad endured a disappointing IPL 2025 campaign, finishing sixth on the table after being runners-up the previous year. The team’s inconsistency with both bat and ball proved costly, keeping them out of playoff contention.
While SRH’s batting lineup still appears strong and capable of improvement, their bowling unit struggled throughout the season. Mohammed Shami’s underwhelming performance could prompt the franchise to consider a trade or release him ahead of the IPL 2026 season.
The upcoming edition will be crucial for the 2016 champions as they look to rebuild and address key weaknesses in their squad.
