Women’s World Cup IND vs AUS: The excitement of ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 is at its peak. The Indian team captained by Harmanpreet Kaur is going to face Australia in the semi-finals today i.e. on 30th October. The match will be played at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai, where fans are expecting the Indian team to repeat history once again. India is now just two steps away from that title, for which crores of cricket lovers have been waiting for years.
India’s performance in the semi-finals
The Indian women’s cricket team has reached the semi-finals of the ICC World Cup four times so far. Out of these, the team has won twice and faced defeat twice. Every time India has shown that on big occasions this team has the courage to challenge any giant.
India vs Australia (1996)
In 1996, the Indian women’s team played the World Cup semi-finals for the first time. India’s match was against Australia. This match was reduced to 32-32 overs due to bad lighting. Batting first, the Australian team had scored a mountain of 123 runs. In reply, India could score only 104 runs for 9 wickets and lost the match by 19 runs.
India vs New Zealand (2000)
In 2000, India once again reached the semi-finals, but this time the team’s performance against New Zealand was lackluster. In this match, the Indian team was all out for just 117 runs. New Zealand achieved this target easily and won by 9 wickets.
India vs New Zealand (2005)
The 2005 semi-final proved to be memorable for India. Once again there was a clash between India and New Zealand. This time the Indian team had registered a spectacular victory by 40 runs. Batting first, India scored 204 runs and then bowled out the Kiwis for 164 runs. On the basis of this victory, India made it to the World Cup final for the first time.
India vs Australia (2017)
The 2017 semi-final was perhaps the most special moment in the history of Indian women’s cricket. Harmanpreet Kaur played an explosive inning of 171 runs in just 115 balls against Australia. India won the match by 36 runs and entered the finals and created a new identity in women’s cricket.
Now same stage again in 2025
After eight years, India and Australia are once again face to face in the semi-finals. Harmanpreet is the captain once again and the entire country is hoping that the history of 2017 is repeated in 2025.
