South Africa has made it to the final of the Women’s World Cup 2025. In the semi-final played at Baraspara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, South Africa defeated England by a huge margin of 125 runs and made it to the final. South Africa has reached the final of the ODI World Cup for the first time.
England had a very bad start to chase the target of 320 runs given by South Africa. The team lost its first two wickets at 0 and the third wicket at 3. After this, there was a partnership of 105 runs between captain Nat Sevier Brunt and Ellis Capsey for the fourth wicket. This partnership raised hopes of England’s comeback, but after Ellis Capsey was out on the score of 50, the team once again fell apart. Captain Nat Sevier Brunt was out after scoring 64 runs and Danny Wyatt was out after scoring 34 runs. Linsey Smith, who came to bat at number ten, was out after scoring 27 runs. England were all out for 194 runs in 42.3 overs and lost the match by a huge margin of 125 runs.
For South Africa, Marijne Kapp took 5 wickets for 20 runs in 7 overs. Ayabonga Khaka, Ann Mlaba, and Sun Luus took 1 wicket each and Nadine de Klerk took 2 wickets.
After losing the toss and opting to bat first, South Africa had scored 319 runs for 7 wickets on the basis of captain Laura Wolvaardt’s excellent and memorable century innings. Batting like a one-man army, Laura Wolvaardt played a big inning of 169 runs in 143 balls with the help of 20 fours and 4 sixes. This innings of Laura Wolvaardt played in the semi-finals will be remembered for a long time. When Wolvaardt was going out, the England players also praised her for her marathon innings.
Apart from this, Tajmin Brits scored 45, Marijne Kapp 42, and Chloe Tryon scored 33 runs for South Africa. For England, Sophie Eccleston took 4 wickets for 44 runs in 10 overs, Lauren Bell took 2 wickets for 55 runs in 10 overs, and Nat Savior Brunt took 1 wicket for 67 runs in 8 overs.
