Meerabai Chanu created history in the World Championship, won the silver medal by lifting 199 kg

Meerabai Chanu has won the silver medal in the ongoing World Weightlifting Championship in Norway Ford. This is his third medal in the history of this tournament. She has become the third weightlifter to win the most World Championship Medal for India. Earlier, he won the gold medal in the 48 kg category in the 2017 (Anaheim) World Championship. In 2022 (Bogota), he won the silver medal in the 49 kg category.

Meerabai Chanu won a silver medal with a total of 199 kg in the 48 kg category. He finished second by lifting 84 in snatch and 115 kg in clean and jerk. After the victory, Meerabai Chanu went directly to her coach Vijay Sharma and thanked him. Due to injury, Meerabai was difficult for Chanu for the last few years. Meerabai won the gold medal in the Commonwealth Championship held in Ahmedabad this year.

Meerabai Chanu has become the third such player to win the World Championship title for India more than 2 times. Apart from them, Kunjrani Devi and Karnam Malleshwari have done so. Kunjrani won the silver 7 times in this competition (1989, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997). Malleswari won Gold in 1994, 1995 and Bronze (Total 4) medals in 1993, 1996.
